The researchers looked at sleep patterns and cardiometabolic risks involving 445 men and women between the ages of 30 and 54 with a working time of at least 25 hours per week. Each is required to wear a measuring bracelet to measure their movements and sleep time in a week.

As a result, participants who had large sleep-time differences on weekdays and weekends tend to have poorer cholesterol profiles and higher insulin resistance levels than those who had a fixed sleep schedule throughout the week.

Changing sleeping habits at weekends will also affect a person's sleep time on other days, ie working days, and impact on overall sleep quality.

The study is still in the process of observation, so it has not been proven cause and effect relationship caused by sleeping habits with the development of diabetes and heart disease.
